How do I get there?
The conference site is located in Redbank, around 2 hours and 15 minutes from Melbourne airport. You will need to drive with a car or carpool with others.
Is camping equipment included?
No, you’ll need to bring your own gear including a tent and bedding and any basic camping items such as torches, spare tent pegs etc. Please do not bring any cooking equipment or gas burners as this will be a fire-free camping area.
Can I rent a tent?
Yes, we do have tent hire tickets, which includes setup, packdown, a pillow and blanket. Please bring your own sleeping bag though.
Can I bring a van, camper trailer, or caravan?
Of course! Just make sure you book a Vehicle Pass so we know how many campervans to prepare for. Please note, these are unpowered camping sites.
What do I need to bring?
Tent & bedding
crockery (plate, bowl, cutlery, mug)
water bottle
torch
warm layers for the evening
towel and toiletries
powerbank for your phone & other electronics
and all your positive energy!
Is food included for everyone?
Yes, every ticket includes meals! Our on-site chefs will be serving up wholesome plant-based meals for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Bring snacks if you like, but remember—zero-waste is the way so please minimise packaging.
Is this event suitable for children and young people?
Definitely. We offer a family-friendly, drug and alcohol-free environment, along with additional sessions for kids.
Can I bring my dog/pet?
Yes, but your furry friend will need to be on a lead at all times and you’ll need to keep a constant eye on them. Don’t forget your doggy bags - please consider local fauna and ensure your dogs are supervised when playing with others.
Can I attend for just a single day?
We don’t offer single-day tickets, but you’re welcome to join us for a day—just grab a 4-day pass to attend.
Do I need to bring my own water?
No you don’t. Bring a refillable bottle as we have filtered water stations throughout the venue. You can bring your own water, but remember—zero-waste and no alcohol!
What’s the weather like?
Expect days up to 25°C and nights that dip to around 8°C. Be sure to pack layers for those chilly evenings.
What facilities are available on-site?
You’ll find clean, eco-friendly toilets, showers, and plenty of hand-washing stations to keep you fresh and comfortable.
Are the camping sites powered?
Our general camping sites are unpowered, but communal areas will have power. Caravans and campervans should be prepared to be self-sufficient in terms of power.
Do I need to bring a fire pit or firewood?
No need! We’ll have fire pits set up for cozy evenings, unless there is a fire ban.
Are there washing up stations available?
Yes, we will have dishwashing stations to be able to clean crockery in between meals.
How do we manage our rubbish?
We will have recycling and compost bins available on site, but no general waste bins. We encourage you to minimise waste and take responsibility for your own waste - this means taking home any waste you bring. Our goal is to leave as little impact as possible.
Transport and Accessibility
Is the site accessible for people with disabilities?
The site is not ideal for people who use wheelchairs. Potential attendees who may require an accessible toilet should let us know ahead of time. You will also have an opportunity to inform us of your specific accessibility needs when you book your ticket.
How far is the venue from the nearest town?
We’re about a 15 minute drive from Avoca, so you can easily make a dash for any last-minute supplies if you have a car.
Is there public transport to the venue?
No, there isn’t. Carpooling is encouraged to reduce environmental footprint.
Can I drive my car?
Yes, there’s a designated parking area for attendees. Share the ride with others if you can!
Will there be first aid available on-site?
Absolutely, we’ll have first aid facilities and trained staff on hand for any medical needs.
Family-friendly Event Experience
Is Newkind family-friendly?
Yes! We welcome families with children of all ages, and there will be some children’s sessions for 5-12 year olds. The event space is also drug and alcohol-free.
Will there be child-friendly facilities?
We’ll try our best to accommodate families with babies and infants, but please bring whatever accessories and supplies that you may need for your baby.
Are there specific activities for children?
Yes. Our kids’ program features fun, educational activities, creative workshops, and more. Check the schedule for details closer to the event.
Can I bring my own snacks for my kids?
Yes, feel free to bring snacks, but remember to avoid single-use packaging. Let’s keep it zero-waste! If you bring general waste, you will need to take it with you.
Are children allowed in all workshops?
Many sessions are open to all, but some might be better suited for older attendees. It is up to parents discretion to decide which subject matter they would like their young people to attend. It is possible that sessions may include mentions of domestic violence, racial violence, poverty, conflict and other themes that may not be suitable for under 12s.

Do I need to bring my own food?
No need! Your meals are included with your ticket, but feel free to bring your own zero-waste snacks if you like.
Will there be options for dietary requirements?
Yes, we can accommodate most dietary needs. Let us know when you book your ticket.
What does a zero-waste event mean?
It means we aim to minimise waste to landfill. As part of this, we ask participants to bring their own reusable items like mugs, plates, and cutlery, and steer clear of single-use plastics. We separate organic waste from recyclables, and ensure that we avoid single use packaging, and excessive use of recyclables.
Will there be Wi-Fi at the event?
There is no Wi-Fi, but there is phone reception with Telstra. Time to unplug and connect with the experience!
What kinds of activities and workshops will be offered?
Expect a mix of workshops, performances, panels, and art installations focusing on social justice, sustainability, and community building. Check out the program for more details.
Can I volunteer for the event?
